Local Real Estate Market gets Annual Review

Anyone interested in an independent, objective report on the current state of the Cayman Islands property market can review Charterland’s recently published third annual Cayman Property Review. The 2010 report was prepared to the standards of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and provides an in-depth review of the commercial and residential Cayman property market.

“These are uncertain times, so we believe it’s important to provide a report that paints an accurate picture of the Cayman property market,” says Charterland Partner Simon Watson. “Our independent review has always presented impartial information and this year we have expanded the scope beyond the number of transfers and related values to include data on where purchasers are coming from, whether locally or overseas. We’ve also examined the leases of commercial office and retail premises registered in 2010 and their stated rental rates.”

The 2010 report was first shared with guests attending a recent private launch party hosted by Charterland. “Folks at our event were very happy to be among the first to glimpse the report,” says Mr Watson. “Naturally, we’re delighted to know that it was well received and we’re confident that anyone who studies it will be pleased with the detailed content.”

Mr Watson further explained that the information and results are based on the review and analysis of every individual property transfer and lease submitted for registration with the Cayman Islands Government’s Land Registry in 2010. Further relevant data was collected from the Planning Department and Economic and Statistics Office.
